The Transformative Effects of Vitamin A Peel
Vitamin A peels are becoming more popular. They are an effective way to treat skin issues like pigmentation, acne, and sun-damage. At Lavish, we offer two popular Vitamin A peel facials; ‘the timeless’ and ‘the benefit’.
What does a Vitamin A Peel do?
They are used to improve skin health and restore a healthy glow. Vitamin A is a powerful ingredient. It increases collagen production, accelerates cell turnover, and reduces hyper-pigmentation.
They are pain-free and most people tolerate this except in cases of skin sensitivity. However, when applied in high concentrations, they may induce mild skin irritation. Post-treatment you may experience side effects including flaking or peeling whilst your skin gets used to the Vitamin A. You cannot have Vitamin A if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Consulting with skincare professionals is essential before choosing a treatment. They can assess your skin's condition and decide if Vitamin A is suitable for you.
What is Vitamin A Peel recommended for?
They can treat a variety of skin concerns such as:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Ageing
- Pigmentation from melasma or sun-damage
- Acne breakouts
- Enlarged pores and congestion
- Helps with blackhead extraction
- Keratosis pilaris
- Stretch marks
It is crucial to consult with our skincare professionals before opting for the treatment, as they can evaluate your skin’s condition and determine if Vitamin A is suitable for you.
Can Vitamin A cause peeling?
The increased cell turnover will cause your skin to peel 2-5 days after your treatment. This is normal. It removes old skin layers to reveal fresh new skin. If your skin continues to shed after a few weeks post treatment you should visit your skincare professional.
How often can I get Vitamin A Peel?
The frequency can vary depending on several factors including your skin type and the specific strength of peel used. At Lavish, we offer two different Vitamin A peels with different strengths.
Our Benefit peel is medium strength and our Timeless peel is high strength. It is important to consult with our skincare professionals so they can assess your skin and recommend the type of treatment perfect for you.
Typically, the initial series of treatments is scheduled at intervals of 10-14 days. This time frame allows your skin sufficient recovery time to initiate the healing and rejuvenation process before undergoing subsequent treatments.
When will I see results?
Results can be seen 1-5 days after your treatment with slow improvement over time. Your skincare professional may recommend moving up to a higher concentration of Vitamin A as you continue your treatment plan. Once you have adjusted to the strength of Vitamin A and are no longer experiencing peeling, flaking or irritation, you can consider moving up in strength.
The results of Vitamin A treatments will not show until you finish the full course. This should be done according to your skincare professional's advice.
Pre & Post treatment advice
Pre-treatment:
- No exfoliation 3-5 days prior to treatment
- No direct sun exposure 5-7 days prior to treatment
Post-treatment:
- Minimal disruption to your daily activities
- You will need to reduce skincare for a week after treatment. We recommend using non-comedogenic moisturisers or petroleum jelly on sensitive areas that are peeling. This should be done for the first few days or as needed.
- No exfoliation for 7-10 days post treatment.
- No direct sun exposure throughout the peeling phase and always wear an SPF
